We’ve chosen supply partners to help us give back to the global community. Most of our suppliers are women-owned businesses located in the United States. They each give back to the global community in a different way. Many of the products are hand-made, and are not items that can be easily purchased through large on-line or big-box retailers. Through your purchases, you are supporting small, women-owned businesses that, in turn, spread opportunities to women throughout the world.
Here are a few of our supplier stories:
For over 10 years, ETHICGOODS has employed women who are survivors of human trafficking and exploitation. Originally founded by Maegan Hawley, ETHICGOODS is now co-owned by four best friends on a mission to empower others who are becoming entrepreneurs and starting their journey on a new, hope-filled path.
ETHICGOODS helps to create economic empowerment for women impacted by human trafficking and those at risk of exploitation. They partner with nonprofits primarily in South East Asia that provide holistic care (counseling, education, and healthcare), focus on strengthening the family unit, and demonstrate a community centered approach, so that these women can pave a new, hope-filled path for their families.
Each piece is handcrafted by these women for a fair wage. By wearing ETHICGOODS, you become a meaningful part of her story, and contribute to freedom for women around the world because all women deserve dignified employment. They are firm believers that fashion can empower and it’s their dream and goal to increase the impact ETHICGOODS has on the women they work with and the world.
ETHICGOODS is based in Washington, DC.
Primitives by Kathy (PBK) began in 1997 when Kathy handmade her first “primitive candle box” — carefully sanding the edges, tying ribbons by hand, and crafting each piece with heart. What started as a creative passion quickly became a growing business, fueled by her entrepreneurial spirit and a love of meaningful design.
As demand grew, Kathy partnered with Goodwill Services to help produce her handmade creations — forming a philanthropic partnership that continues to this day and remains core to PBK’s mission.
More than 25 years later, Primitives by Kathy has grown from one candle box to over 8,000 items, offering heartfelt gifts and home décor that blend creativity, humor, and inspiration. Recognized as a leader and trendsetter in the gift industry, PBK continues to create products that bring connection, laughter, and joy to homes everywhere.
Kathy remains at the helm, guiding the brand with her artistic vision, innovative spirit, and dedication to giving back.
